Secret: He’s not particularly religious, yet he believes that the reincarnation of his wife from 380 years ago must be somewhere in the world and that he merely needs to find her. He does acknowledge that she may have reincarnated as a man.

Personality: Seere is generally a gentle individual. He comes from a time when Greeks lived in close-knit families and helped each other survive the harsh times. He tends to be soft-spoken and polite, preferring to shy from conflict and help mediate disagreements, but if backed into a corner, he will defend himself. If he is stressed, he turns to baking or music to help alleviate his tension.

Three Positive Personality Traits: Helpful, non-judgmental, proper.

Three Negative Personality Traits: Passive, naive, suppressed.

Biography
Born in 1614 in Athens, Seere was the son of a Greek mason. He had a large family, consisting of three brothers and two sisters, his mother and father, and his dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, and various other relatives. They were a close-knit family, as most Greek families were and they shared many responsibilities. The women did most of the cleaning and cooking, though they were never looked down upon for such. Seere’s father, Nicolaus, was a gentle man and passed his views on equality down to his sons.

Seere spent much of his young life working as an apprentice to his father, learning the tools and tricks of the trade, preparing to be a master mason one day in his own right. During the day, he would work, and at night, he would return to his family and help his grandmother bake her bread in the stone oven he and his father had made for her.

He married Selena when he was 18 and she 14. They had three children together – two boys and a girl – and lived in a house that Seere was constantly working to make larger to accommodate their growing family. At least, until the Cretan War of 1645 began and Seere enlisted in the army.

As it happens, the stench of blood during war attracted an opportunistic vampire. A year into the war, as Seere was helping a wounded soldier off a raft and onto shore in the dead of night, they were set upon by a vampire. That was how Seere lost his life.

Deemed an attractive companion and a useful translator, Seere was forced to accompany his new vampire sire and to abandon his family, but it didn’t last long: his master grew tired of his passiveness and his unwillingness to permanently yield to his animalistic side and he abandoned Seere to fend for himself less than two years later.

At this point, Seere knew he could not return to his family for fear of hurting them. There was also the risk that if anyone found out he was a vampire, his family could be branded as devil-worshippers. So, he paid one last unseen visit to them on a cold, October night, left a care package of money on their doorstep, and then departed Greece for England.

Since then, Seere has traveled all over the world, rarely staying in any one place for more than a couple of decades. He tends to avoid his own kind, mainly because when he finds himself in a clan of vampires, the depraved urges that constantly whisper at him become stronger and more insistent. There’s also the fact that his lack of contact with other vampires has allowed him to retain a large portion of his humanity and his father’s teachings, believing that there is not so much a difference between humans and vampires, or even vampires and werewolves, for that matter. Were they not all human, once upon a time? This viewpoint often gets him attacked or bullied or even driven out from whatever community he has called home.

So, he moves from place to place like a nomad, practicing his architectural, artistic, and musical talents to make money wherever he goes.

That lasts for 400 years until Seere ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Apparently, the vampires he’s run across in Florida are not quite so tolerant of his errant views. They decide that something a little more extreme needs to be done. Something progressive.

So one night, they break into his home, lock him up in a cage, and ship him off to a place called Night Island, where he will live as a slave and be forced to see how the vampire community is meant to work and how humans are meant to be treated, where he will be forced to adhere to these standards of proper society.

Seere fervently hopes that Felson knows where he has gone and will come looking for him.
